Met Piet in 1978 when he was in the army doing his national service. Ended up staying in the commune on his father's plot in Heatherdale. He was involved with Raven then and 1979 they were runners up in the Battle of the Bands competition on SABC TV. "Roadied" with Raven during this time.

Jack Hammer Was part of the team with Colin Pratley, Boet Faber, Paul van Eden, Piet Botha, Deon Maree, Gilbert Lyons that put the "One Skin Mile from Skullgrin", a Wildebeest Bushrock Ballet at the Conservatoir of Music in Pretoria in 1982 (I kept a file with all the clippings, photos, programme, etc. and recently gave it to The Hammer as a gift). Around this time Piet, Boet Faber and myself lived on a farm in DeWildt north-west of Pretoria and I ended up assisting with the management of the band.

Was at the live recording of the Wildebeest album at Upstairs in Sunnyside and also in the studio when Anton Goosen recorded the Wildebeest album on his Grafitti label. Piet & I had a one on one interview with Trevor Rabin just after "90125" album (by Yes in 1983). "Owner of a Lonely Heart" hit number one and Trevor came out to SA to launch the album through Wea Records.

Jackson & I roadied the Cape Town leg of the ZZ Top tour in the 3 Arts Theatre in 1996.

Piet was born 18th July 1955 (Cancerian) and has a wife, Vivian and 3 daughters, Jessica, Piya and Robynne.
